Episode 10 - Is Bandit Chief Mean To Be An Insult?

We've made it to 10 episodes! Well done us! As a way to mark this milestone we take a short break from our historical progression and decide to take a long look at the man who's looming over the narrative we've tried to construct here and who's also in our logo. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. While we reject the idea of great man history, it'd be an incomplete series on our part if we didn't look at the life of the man, how that life will have impacted his decisions as Turkey's president and what his legacy was at least in the immediate aftermath of his death.

So come with us for a journey from a cosmopolitan city in Greece, to Syria, to Libya, to the Caucuses and all the way around the Ottoman Empire and Turkey as we follow his steady rise to power.
